Adding a government ID
Before you book a companion, Saheli asks for your own government ID, and the Saheli team checks it. You add it once, in your Account profile, and it covers every care profile you arrange care with.

Why Saheli asks
Companions visit people in their homes, and families invite them in. Checking your government ID confirms you are who you say you are before a companion is sent to an address, and helps keep fake accounts and fraud off Saheli.
Adding your own ID
It is one ID for your whole account. If you also work as a Saheli companion, it is the same ID: add it before you send your companion application, and it covers both.
If you uploaded a government ID with your companion application before, Saheli moved it to your Government ID tab for you, so you do not need to upload another.
- Select Account in the menu, then the Government ID tab.
- Choose a photo or scan of your ID.
- Select Add ID.
Which IDs work
A driver's licence, passport, provincial photo card, or other government photo ID. A health card does not count.
Upload a clear photo (JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC) or a PDF, up to 10 MB.
When the Saheli team checks it
Once your ID is on file, the tab says it is waiting for Saheli staff to check it. When they have, it says Checked by Saheli staff and Saheli lets you know. You can book once it is checked.
If the photo is hard to read, Saheli asks you for another look. Choose a clearer photo and select Replace ID.
An ID for the person receiving care (optional)
You can also add the government ID of someone you arrange care for, in their care profile's Government ID tab. It is optional: you can book without it. If you add it, tick the box to confirm you have their permission to share it.
- Creating a care profileAdding the person receiving care.
What you need to book
If something is missing, your home page lists it with a link to where you add it.
- Browsing companions: nothing. Anyone can search and read profiles.
- Messaging companions: nothing beyond signing in.
- Booking: your own government ID, checked by the Saheli team, and a complete care profile for the person receiving care.
How the ID is protected
Only Saheli staff can open an ID. Companions never see it; once your ID is checked, companions on your bookings see that the family's government ID has been checked.
Saheli uses an ID only to confirm who someone is, and deletes it when you close your account or archive the care profile it belongs to.
