Accept the visits that suit you
Families ask for a date and time, and you accept or decline. Saheli does not assign shifts or send you to a home.
Use what you already know
Your languages, cooking, customs, and life experience help a family find the right fit.
Know the limits before you apply
Companion work supports ordinary days. It does not replace nursing or regulated home care.
Work you can agree to
- Conversation, games, walks, and company
- Cooking, laundry, light tidying, and errands
- Reminders for plans and medication already set by the family
- Company at appointments and community activities
Work you must refuse
- Counselling or therapy
- Advice about health, treatment, diet, legal matters, or money
- Lifting or transferring someone who cannot bear their own weight
- Handling money or signing documents
- Nursing or medical care, including injections, wound care, or monitoring a health condition
- Administering medication. A companion does not give, measure, sort, or apply it, or decide anything about it. Reminders for a plan already set are fine
- Anything that needs a regulated health professional
Who can apply
A clear eligibility check
Paid care experience helps, but it is not the only kind of experience that counts. Supporting someone in your own family can count too.
You do not need a nursing qualification or a car. Some family requests may need one, and you can choose whether those requests suit you.
- You are 18 or older and legally allowed to work in Canada
- You can give references we can contact
- You can complete a full profile: a photo, a short bio, your services, rates, and hours
- You can communicate clearly in English or in the language a family needs
What happens after you apply
We review each stage before a profile can appear to families.

Create an account and build your profile
Add your details, a photo, a short bio, your languages, your services and rates, and the hours you can work. It takes about twenty minutes.

Saheli reviews it
A member of the Saheli team reads every profile before it appears to families. If we want to know more, we invite you to a short video call.

Add your documents
A criminal record check is optional. If you provide one, we review it ourselves and your profile carries a record-checked badge families can see. Certificates are welcome too.

Go live
Once accepted, your profile appears to families in your area. You choose which requests to answer and can pause your listing any time.

What to know before you apply.
Do I need paid care experience?
Paid experience helps, but it is not required. Supporting someone in your family or community can count too. We look at your experience, communication, and fit when we review your profile.
What kind of work can I do?
Companions provide everyday, non-medical support such as conversation, cooking, light tidying, errands, walks, and company at appointments or community activities.
How does Saheli vet companions?
Every applicant completes a full profile, which a member of the Saheli team reviews before it can appear to families. We check any documents they upload, and we interview applicants when we want to know more.
Do I need a criminal record check?
A criminal record check is optional. If you provide one, Saheli reviews it and adds a record-checked badge to your profile for families to see.
Can I choose my visits and families?
Yes. Families ask for a date and time, and you accept or decline each request. You decide which conversations and work suit you. Saheli does not assign shifts.
