How-to

Starting your application

Becoming a Saheli companion starts with building your whole profile, then sending it to the Saheli team to review. You can save as you go and come back later.

Who can apply

Companions need to be 18 or older, legally allowed to work in Canada, able to give references, and able to communicate clearly in English or in the language a family needs. The full list is on the Become a companion page.

Starting

If you already use Saheli to arrange care, you can apply with the same account.

  1. Sign in to Saheli.
  2. On your home page, select Work as a companion.
  3. Fill in About you and select Save and continue.

The four steps

Your checklist shows each step, which ones are done, and what comes next.

  • About you: your private details.
  • Your public profile: a photo, a short bio, your languages, and how far you travel.
  • Services and rates: what you offer and your hourly rate for each.
  • Documents: optional, such as a record check or a certificate.

About you

This step asks for your name, date of birth, phone, and home address, whether you are authorized to work in Canada, and anything you want the Saheli team to know about your experience.

These details are for the Saheli team to review your profile and reach you. Families do not see them; they see your city and the public details you choose. Saheli does not share your address with anyone.

Confirming the limits of the work

Before you continue, you confirm that you understand Saheli is non-medical companionship and what that rules out, and that you have read the privacy policy.

Sending it to Saheli

When every required step is done, select Submit my profile on your checklist. The Saheli team reviews every profile before it appears to families.

Changing your details later

While you are building your profile, you can change anything in About you. After you submit, your phone and address are changed on your Account page.

Once you are accepted, your name, date of birth and work authorization are the details Saheli vetted, so the Saheli team changes them for you on request.
